In our Echo Valley Vineyards, 2002 was an excellent
vintage overall, with generous spring rains and optimum
temperatures at harvest resulting in extended hang time
and near-perfect ripening. A new selection protocol
in the vineyard coupled with adjustments to our barrel
mix (emphasizing the use of more French oak) resulted
in what we believe is an excellent wine.
In the words of one reviewer, Valentine Vineyards 2002
Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits ...excellent black
currant flavors already blending nicely with the oak...
(Its) three dimensional and, although it is drinking
remarkably well for its age right now, ...it should
develop well over at least the next two to three years
(John Walter, London).
Our 02 Cab is doubtless the most complex yet
appealing wine weve produced to date.
